Most development
approvals have already been obtained for initial development
at the UC MBEST Center. The following is a list of development
approvals to date:
- In
April of 1997 the Regents of the University of California
approved the UC MBEST Center Master Plan as it pertains
to the Central North and West campuses of the MBEST Center.
- In
1997 the Fort Ord Reuse Authority approved the Fort Ord
Reuse Plan, which incorporates by reference the UC MBEST
Center Master Plan.
- In
October of 2000 the City of Marina adopted a General Plan
Update that reflects the land uses set forth in the MBEST
Center Master Plan for the Central North and West campuses
(the remainder of the UC MBEST Center is outside of the
City of Marina).
- In
April of 2001 the California Department of Fish and Game
issued a 30-year Incidental Take Permit for state-listed
endangered species allowing development on nearly all of
UC MBEST Center lands.
- In
April of 2001 the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service issued
a letter approving development on nearly all UC MBEST Center
lands.
A Tentative
Map covering the Central North and West campuses is being
filed with the City of Marina. A Final Map will be filed by
the UC MBEST Center's developer partner in the near future.
As new
UC MBEST Center tenants are identified and approved, the developer
partner will obtain design review approvals and building permits
from the City of Marina.
