Land
Use Designation Definitions
Commercial
Mixed-Use (CMU): Commercial uses primarily serving
business clients, including hotel, bed and breakfast
inn, serviced apartments, retail, professional and medical
offices, government offices, and restaurants.
Light
Industrial/Service Commercial (LI/SC): Uses primarily
engaged in fabrication, manufacturing, assembly or processing
of materials which do not create nuisances to adjacent
tenants. Warehousing and services are permitted.
Research
and Development (R&D): Uses primarily engaged in
the research, development, and controlled production
of high-technology electronic, industrial or scientific
commodities for sale, or the production, assembly, testing
and repair of components, devices, equipment, systems,
and parts. Minor office and warehousing uses are allowed.
Special
Amenity (SA): Uses planned for special areas, such
along the bluff overlooking the Salinas Valley. The
uses must have a public orientation, take advantage
of the unique amenities of the site and be compatible
with vegetation and adjacent uses.
